Streamline Your Long Distance Move in Portland

Streamline Your Long Distance Move in Portland

Planning a long-distance move is an exciting opportunity for a fresh start. That being said, however, it also has the potential to be a stressful and complicated experience.

That’s why it’s crucial to find a trusted Portland long-distance moving company that can help you plan ahead and make your upcoming relocation as simple and hassle-free as possible. If you want to work with the best of the best, there’s no better option Allen and Coles Moving Systems!

Finding the Right Long Distance Movers in Portland (Before You Need Them!)

If you know that a major move is in your future, don’t wait until the last minute to set something up. Reputable moving companies are often booked to capacity, especially during the summer months when most families are looking to move.

Unfortunately, this often means the have to turn away hopeful customers.

The best thing you can do is starting organizing your long-distance relocation ahead of time, and that means choosing a dependable mover as soon as you can! The question is, however, what type of long-distance moving company in Portland should you be considering?

If you want the first-class experience you deserve, your best option is to find a moving company that’s associated with a major van line. This means that they will have the licensing required to move household items across state lines. Before you hire any moving company that doesn’t have major van line association, make sure to find out whether they have the licensing for interstate moves.

Another helpful tip is to read plenty of reviews before choosing your moving company. Look for a business that has tons positive feedback and 5-star reviews, like Allen and Coles Moving Systems.

Ask About Product Protection and Storage Options

Depending on when you need to leave your current home and will arrive at your new one, there’s a chance overlap will occur that will demand some sort of temporary storage option. If this is the case, make sure that whatever long-distance movers in Portland you pick have access to secure warehouse storage.

You also need to be sure that whatever moving company you select has a protection planning option in place. By law, every moving company is required to offer some sort of free basic valuation coverage that will provide reimbursements based on an item’s weight (not it’s value!)

If instead you want to work with a company that offers full replacement value protection, ask potential movers whether they offer any Full Value Protection options.

If you don’t want to purchase full value protection, you might want to consider self-transportation for smaller valuables, such as jewelry.

What Should You Be Moving?

Would you like to decrease your moving costs? One of the best ways to do this is by limiting the number of items you actually need to relocate—but, how do you do that?

The answer is simple—it’s time to do some decluttering!

There’s no better time than right before a move to go through unwanted clothing and get rid of outdated furniture and other household belongings that you know you won’t want in your new home.

I recently needed to move on short notice. Unfortunately, I live in Downtown Portland on the 3rd floor of a walk-up building. From the initial consultation through scheduling and the actual move, no detail was left unaddressed. My team of Mike and...

When should I schedule my move?

You should start organizing your move 6 weeks prior to your ideal move date. Try and schedule your move during the off-peak season or outside of the months from May-September. Many moving companies will accommodate last-minute moves as well, so don't think that just because you're starting your moving late in the game, it can't be accomplished.
